As a young woman, I so wanted to feel my most beautiful and confident on my wedding day as I walked down the aisle towards my prince (and he is such a prince ️). Well... I love looking back on that day, the photos, and remembering how beautiful I felt! ••• I chose to switch up my lifestyle about a year before Prezzy and I started dating. A few weeks ago I could barely do 5 sets of leg raises without added weight. I’ve progressed to a 6 lb ball. This is the most effective movement I’ve done for core strengthening

Be sure to keep back firmly against the board and slowly lower your legs. 10-15 reps x 5-10 sets. 2nd clip from today’s workout: 1 min on, 30 second rest, 5 sets. It will burn ️

I have to be honest. I have no idea how to photograph- food in particular so hang with my somewhat sub-par instagrammable foodie pics. 
Tonight’s dinner: $19 dollars, took ten minutes to make, and will give my boyfriend and I enough food for leftover lunch.  During the week it is really hard to put a ton of work into make healthy & good-quality dinners. The last thing you want to do after a day at the office is spend another hr on your feet making a meal, eat for 15 minutes followed by 30 minutes of dishes.
As soon as youre creative with the basics meal miracles can happen. This meal was so appetizing and full of flavour that I can’t wait to heat it up tomorrow at the office for my lunch. 🥗🤤 I started by sautéing sun-dried tomatoes with oven-roasted garlic with a bit of avocado oil and asparagus. After the asparagus tenderized I added some artichoke hearts for some light flavour. Once the asparagus was almost done, I added a couple of handfuls of spinach followed by some fresh lemon squirts. Finally, I drizzled a bit of Siracha to the ensemble because it is honestly one of my favourite flavours.. 🤷‍️. Once this was all ready I served it on al dente bow-tie pasta. 10 MINUTES - it takes longer to go through a drive-thru. 
In this meal- no notable source of protein. However, spinach provides the average person with adequate protein per meal. Along with the protein from this plant- you will get iron as long as you incorporate a citrus to help it absorb (the lemon). PS the average person ingests way too much protein, so unless you’re running ultra marathons and you’re eating a balanced diet- don’t stress your protein consumption... ASPARAGUS: this is a wonderful veggie. What is notable? It contains a high amount of the amino acid asparagine- it is a natural diuretic. Therefore, eating more will help your body flush out toxins and also prevent most women’s worst enemy: the UTI. 
ARTICHOKES: One of the most notable qualities is perhaps that artichokes are very beneficial for brain health. In fact, artichokes have also been found to prevent neural tube defects in newborns. They’re also key  in helping to prevent breast, prostate, and leukaemia cancers

Many of you have reached out to me with one ailment or another. I am unable to respond in as much detail as I would like, to each of you. So I put stuff together in these videos. It's one of the reasons I am doing them.

There is some synchronicity presenting with The Collective. Many of us are harboring beliefs and/or behaviors that are toxic to our well-BEing. It is imperative that we release these for our Highest Living.
🤔But we are having trouble. This trouble is actually manifesting physically, just like it sounds: ️we're having trouble getting the crap out.

Our #kidneys are under duress, our urinary tract, our #bladder, our #adrenals, our #sex glands, our #stress response system are all tryin' to purge (cleanse) that which ain't working!  If we are on board, taking care of our physical #health, spiritually #aligned, & emotionally showing up to ourSelves & the #relationships around us, then all is well. If we are not, there is a backup in one or more of these systems.

There's a double whammy right now as much of these physical manifestations are coming from the #energy presenting with the astrological aspects of Mars' & Venus's interaction. Venus is also in charge of our relationships & so as many of us have noticed, some of the more painful relationships in our lives have come to the forefront. We are hurting. Here again, if we are dealing w/ this, we are okay. If we are not, or if we are not allowing #love in our lives from those around us, we're probably presenting w/ some pulmonary issues, circulatory issues, and problems with our #HeartHealth.

Start with the basics when beginning your journey into fitness and improving your health.

The American Heart Association recommends: ▶️150 minutes of moderate exercise a week. That's 30 minutes a day for 5 days. ▶️Or at least 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise. 
It's just a general recommendation. Make sure you elevate your heart rate and possibly break out into a light sweat. 
You can use the talk test. If you're doing moderate-intensity activity you can talk, but not sing, during the activity. If you're doing vigorous-intensity activity, you won't be able to say more than a few words without pausing for a breath.

And yes it has protein but it is so much more than a “protein” shake. The vampire struck! No, actually, today it was time for bloodwork before my regularly scheduled physical. I really, really hate needles, so this is not my favorite activity.

I wanted to share this because exercise and eating right are critical for achieving a fit, strong and healthy body, but in order to maintain it, part of your fitness plan should include regular physicals and appropriate screening tests (regular bloodwork, colonoscopy, mammogram, bone density tests, etc). Some of these may not be pleasant, but they are so important in order to identify health issues early while they are much easier to treat or fix.

I’m a perfect example of this. *

Last November, I was lifting weights 3 times a week, doing mud runs and obstacle courses and felt great . . . the “picture of health” as they say. Little did I know that I had a ticking time bomb inside of me, which a random scan happened to pick up. I had a weakness in my aorta (the main artery to the heart) that would likely have blown within a couple of weeks -- usually a life-ending event.

Dec. 8th, when the call from the doctor came with the scan results I was on my way to the gym to work out and here he was, calling me to come in to the emergency room for open-heart surgery! If I had not been following up on recommendations from a routine health exam, I’d be dead right now.

Remember, you can’t always tell what’s physically happening on the inside by how your body looks on the outside! Sometimes there are signs or symptoms that will clue you in to a problem, but there are also “silent” health issues that you won’t find until it’s too late. Don’t put off your regular health exams, it truly could be a matter of life or death!!

The most likely result from excess is heart palpitations, muscle weakness and in theory, the worst case of cardiac arrest

This is a possibility in more folks than you might think. Your body tightly regulates your serum potassium levels, but there are disease states that derail this balancing act
.
The most common issues are chronic kidney disease and diabetes
.
Insulin resistance and deficiency are a features of diabetes. Insulin drives potassium into your cells and out of the blood stream. Problems with insulin signaling impair this process, and you rely on the kidney-adrenal axis in excreting potassium
.
The kidneys excrete potassium in an aldosterone dependent process. If you have chronic kidney disease, you don’t excrete potassium very well
.
You might be aware that diabetes and chronic kidney disease tend hold hands. Often folks with diabetes have chronic kidney disease, so you have this two-hit effect whereby you don’t move potassium into your cells very well nor do you excrete optimally
.
And so you’re more likely to suffer complication
.
Knowing this, it sensible for health professionals to have reservations about extra potassium intake, because a large fraction of the population suffers some degree of insulin resistance and renal failure
.
What about healthy individuals?
.
Studies have been done demonstrating the safety of potassium intake at levels of 15 grams per day
.
If you’re healthy, you’ll likely regulate it well. That’s a lot of potassium!
.
The Institute of Medicine Recommends 4.7grams per day
.
Only 2% of Americans meet this requirement.
.
Some nutrition experts argue that pre-agriculural diets contained greater than 10 grams per day.
.
If there is no evidence of diabetes or kidney impairment and you have evidence that you’re not getting that 4.7 grams a day, you should discuss these points I raised with your health and nutrition providers. Especially if you have hypertension.

Smiling for my echo!
Today I had 2 appointments, one with my GP and then I went for my echocardiogram. If you are unfamiliar with it, it’s an ultrasound of your heart. It was really cool to see my own heart. Those results are going to be sent to my cardiologist (who from my first impression of her, I don’t like). As for my gastritis, no improvement in this flare up. :( so my doctor put me on a new medication and if it doesn’t work then he’s gonna send me to a gastroenterologist. 
Something I have learned throughout this journey is that you can’t set the bar too high for yourself. If you are setting goals for yourself that are too hard to achieve, it will just make you feel like a failure and down on yourself. You have to celebrate the small things because that’s what keep the joy and happiness in your life. 
Some days, your biggest achievement is getting dressed, getting out of the house, showering, or even getting out of bed. And you have to celebrate that and realize that you are doing the best you can. Your best is good enough! 
And as small and silly as it may be, I am a strong believer in #CelebratingTheSmallThings 
Because the small things, might be big things to us.

When I #diet this is how my #bloodpressure looks. It’s def better than the high blood pressure that I struggled with so much in the past. As long as it’s low I can function, breathe, and just feel ok. With the dieting I allow some more sugar and salt so my pressure doesn’t go too low. This morning whilst at a circuit class I was asked why I was taking options. I replied jokingly saying having my two girls had messed me about a bit. Her instant reply was ‘did you have caesareans’. No I didn’t. I’ve had two vaginal deliveries, but both pregnancies and the births have affected me differently, along with some silly choices which have left me where I am today. On a journey with lots of other postnatal mums helping their bodies be the best they can be. Post birth weakness, complications and pelvic health can happen to us all, not just to a certain type of birth. Talking of which, was the last time you worked your pelvic floor?

Love the flavor from an Asian takeout meal but I hate the calories and sodium that comes along with it. Which is why I prefer to make it at home. This veggie stir fry is made with broccoli and eggplant as the base topped with crispy coconut (brown) rice (I repurposed the stems from the broccoli in the rice for some added texture and nutrients.) The first on my list of things I do daily to promote health is... Dry Brushing ‍️ I do this every morning before I get ready/take a shower (sometimes I forget when I’m in a rush, just being real). I have been doing this for almost a year now and really enjoy it. Dry brushing has many benefits, the main one being stimulating the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is made up of organs, lymph nodes, ducts, and vessels that transport lymph throughout the body. Many vessels running just below the skin. Brushing over the skin can stimulate your circulatory system and all of this aids in detoxification. 
It also exfoliates your skin and has been known to improve cellulite. You can find these natural bristle brushes online. Mine is from @amazon. If you add this to your routine, make sure to follow directions on which way you brush your skin (start at your feet and work your way towards your heart). See you tomorrow for number 2!
